Helmut Rießbeck, Dr. med., 63 years of age, is a medical psychodynamic psychotherapist in private practice close to Nuremburg, Bavaria. After completing his degree in the field of general medicine and internal medicine he worked in several common hospitals and as emergency doctor from 1982 on. Later he  received education  in various fields of psychodynamic psychotherapy in Germany predominantly in Katathymic Imaginative Psychotherapy (KIP), group psychotherapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy , Ego State therapy and Enactive traumatherapy (E.Nijenhuis). He  focused on trauma therapy, scientifically working on the use of different forms of imaginations in trauma therapy. His special interests are the history of concepts on dissociation, the overlap of psychosis and dissociation, and the comparison of models of parts therapies.

Dr. Rießbeck is member of the „Deutschsprachige Gesellschaft für Psychotraumatologie (DeGPT)“, and  of the German Janet Society. He regularly lectures in various organisations for postgraduate training of medical doctors and psychologists and as a supervisor. He is cofounder of The German Working Group for Ego State Therapy (EST.de) and head of the Traumahilfezentrum Nürnberg (THZN.e.V.).
