PUBLICATIONS AND RESEARCH:
Kershaw, Carol & Wade, Bill. (2017). The Worry Free Mind: Train Your Brain, Calm the Stress Spin Cycle, and Discover a Happier, More Productive You. New Jersey: Career Press.
This book translates the latest neuroscience research into practical strategies in a program to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Kershaw, Carol & Wade, Bill. (2012). Brain Change Therapy: Clinical Interventions f or Self Transformation. New York: W W Norton.
This book translates neuroscience research into therapeutic strategies for the clinician in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related problems. It is one of the early neurotherapy books to be published in the states and focuses on the neural basis for understanding human problems. It aligns with dialectical and cognitive neuroscience schools of thought and with the research on the electrical activation in the brain to be key in neural functioning. In particular, the chapter “The Liminal State,” discusses the research and application of the “theta” state in therapy which appears in the electroencephalograph as 4-7 Hertz.
Jaak Panksepp, neuroscientist at Washington University, went through our manuscript with a “fine-tooth comb” to make sure it was accurate and in alignment with current neuroscience research before he gave us a glowing recommendation on the book. Panksepp contributed many pieces of research that he bridged into therapeutic applications.
