Dr. med. Christian Schwegler is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and a doctor in traditional Chinese medicine.

After a somatically oriented training with a focus on rheumatology and diseases of the immune system, he switched to traditional Chinese medicine and worked for several years at the TCM center in Constance.

Inspired by the hypnotherapeutic training with Ortwin Meiss at the Milton Erickson Institute in Hamburg, he then completed further training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy in Switzerland.

In addition to his therapeutic work, he has been working as a lecturer in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hypnotherapy, Basic Psychosomatic Care and Therapeutic Communication since 2007.

Since 2015 he has headed the Swiss Institute for Medical Hypnosis (www.simh.ch).

Christian Schwegler works in his own practice and part-time at the University Hospital Basel in gynecological oncology. His research focus is the study of the effects of hypnotherapy on cancer patients.

Dr. med. Christian Schwegler ist Facharzt für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, sowie Arzt für Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin.

Nach einer somatisch orientierten Ausbildung, mit Schwerpunkt Rheumatologie und Erkrankungen des Immunsystems, wechselte er in die Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin und arbeitete mehrere Jahre am TCM-Zentrum in Konstanz.

Angeregt durch die hypnotherapeutische Ausbildung bei Ortwin Meiss am Milton Erickson Institut in Hamburg, absolvierte er anschließend eine Weiterbildung zum Facharzt für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie in der Schweiz. 

Seit 2007 arbeitet er, neben seiner therapeutischen Tätigkeit, als Dozent für Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin, Hypnosetherapie, Psychosomatische Grundversorgung und Therapeutische Kommunikation.

Seit 2015 leitet er das Schweizer Institut für Medizinische Hypnose (www.simh.ch).

Christian Schwegler arbeitet in eigener Praxis und Teilzeit am Universitätsspital Basel in der Gynäkologischen Onkologie. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die Untersuchung der Auswirkungen von Hypnosetherapie auf Patientinnen mit Krebserkrankungen.
